INFO
Andrea is an engineer with more than 20 years of experience and a strong vocation for business and innovation, both in technology as well as in business. He is a curious professional, who can manage risk as well as difficult projects by being capable of identifying the “big picture” and breaking down complex problems into manageable tasks. He also has no problems with delegating activities to his team in order to help it grow, all whilst still keeping control on the final objectives. He can identify and communicate clearly the Vision, as well as the Strategy required to achieve it. However, he never forgets short-term tasks in order to achieve tangible results in the short term, as well as in the long run. He has an MSc in Aerospace engineering from the Polytechnic of Milan and an MBA from the London Business School. He started his career as engineer with AgustaWestland, a helicopter company. Here he acquired skills in computational fluid-dynamics as well as in experimental testing. He was then assigned to an international research project, under the role of Project Manager. After a few years, he was assigned to the BA609 Tiltrotor project in America, at Bell Helicopters. After roughly another 2 years, Andrea went back to Italy to become Program Manager and there was assigned to the coordination of the “Phase 2” of the US101 presidential helicopter. He was then assigned to a Finmeccanica process improvement project in Rome and after 3 years he left Italy to move to the UK and work for Rolls-Royce, as senior manager for the Control Systems research projects. During the next 8 years, Andrea covered various roles in various functions (from the Supply Chain to Finance), eventually becoming Services Business Executive and bringing tangible results to the company. During this period, Andrea acquired new skills and knowledge about the aftermarket and the Rolls-Royce business models, which are among the most advanced in the Aerospace world. He then returned to Italy to become Program Director of Customer Support and Aftermarket for GE Avio (at first dealing only with the Civil market and, after 12 months, also with the Military one). He managed approx. 100 people and one third of GE Avio’s profit. He achieved concrete results, exceeding the goals assigned to him. Whilst still in the UK, Andrea started working part-time inside an incubator and for some British start-ups, which led to him to create an association designed to help Italian start-ups to find investments abroad. This new experience has been expanded recently by joining IMCI+ (a Swiss company that focuses on project financing, for investments worth from 20 million to over 1 billion) under the role of Associate Member and now also as Account Director Europe. All these activities, performed part-time while working for Rolls-Royce and GE Avio, gave him the opportunity to become NED in a scale-up in London and CEO of a University of Birmingham spin-off. Moreover, Andrea has achieved many national and international certifications: CERT’ing in Management, Strategy and Marketing, Innovation Manager with Rina, Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, EUR Ing, Fellow and Registered Project Professional of the Association for Project Management, Black Belt Lean-Sigma in Rolls-Royce and Fellow of the Institution of Engineering & Technology.
